New Klippel NFS optimized version!
Utilizing high-resolution, 360-degree measurements from our Klippel NFS, we’ve completely re-engineered the beloved HTM-200SE, delivering significant improvements across every performance category. We’ve also updated the cabinet with a cleaner, more modern aesthetic, featuring a truly seamless design.
With a linear frequency response, near textbook-perfect estimated in-room response, a sealed enclosure, and bass extension down to 64Hz, this compact, versatile loudspeaker is the ideal solution for space-limited installations. Whether used as mains, center, or surround speakers, or for nearfield and farfield desktop mastering, the HTM-200SE2 offers unparalleled performance and component quality at a price point that defies expectations.
We have experienced and continue to experience remarkable success in re-engineering our product line to fully optimize the critical Estimated In-Room Response (EIR) curve. With its unique asymmetrical driver orientation, specifically designed for wide and linear horizontal and vertical dispersion, optimizing EIR was a significant challenge—but we achieved exceptional results.
The HTM-200SE2 retains the same cabinet size and unique driver orientation, delivering an impressive ±50° vertical and ±50° horizontal dispersion. This makes it ideal for both vertical and horizontal placement, depending on your setup. Through NFS optimization, we’ve enhanced directivity, achieved a flatter and more linear frequency response, and reached the coveted near textbook-perfect EIR.
Beyond its aesthetic enhancements, the HTM-200SE2 delivers a warmer sound with slightly deeper bass, cleaner and more detailed mids, and smoother, more natural highs. When paired with a capable subwoofer, it excels as mains, left/center/right channels, desktop mastering speakers, or in ATMOS and surround sound systems.
This highly versatile speaker addresses the common response "hole" found in most compact home theater systems. This gap, caused by similar-sized speakers playing only down to 200Hz while subwoofers typically play up to 100Hz, leaves an audible void. The HTM-200SE2, with its accurate and tight bass down to 64Hz, bridges this gap seamlessly, providing a smooth, linear response with wide, room-filling dispersion.
Its sealed design, combined with flexible orientation options and easy wall-mounting capabilities, makes the HTM-200SE2 our most placement-friendly speaker. This model has become especially popular as surrounds and in ATMOS systems, it also performs exceptionally well as a main speaker when paired with a subwoofer.

* The below anechoic measurements are high-resolution full-range 360-degree scans taken with our Klippel Near Field Scanner. A minimum of 800 individual measurements are taken to generate these advanced measurements, typically requiring a minimum of 6 hours. These are unsmoothed and fully conform to CEA/CTA-2034 standards.
These measurements are as accurate as is currently technically possible.
Due to the costs, space requirements and complexity, very few manufacturers own or have access to a Klippel NFS, nor would they ever publish such detailed data on their products. Ascend Acoustics is and always has dared to be different.

** All measurements below are with the speaker positioned in horizontal orientation, as is typical for center channel usage.
*Note: Our exclusive Off-Axis Estimated In-Room Response measurement is a critical performance metric. It is an accurate comparison of the differences a listener should expect to hear sitting at different off-axis angles from the speaker; on-axis, +/- 10 degrees horizontally, +/- 20 degrees horizontally and +/- 30 degrees horizontally.
This is a modern and more accurate prediction of in-room speaker performance at different listening angles compared to a simple off-axis measurement graph. This measurement graph accounts for both direct sound and indirect sound and requires thousands of individual off-axis measurements that are then processed through complex algorithms to derive the results. In comparison, an off-axis measurement is just a single response measurement that does not account for the actual directivity of the speaker and is not representative of what we actually hear.
This measurement clearly shows the remarkable off-axis response of the HTM-200SE2 Center. There is less than 1/2dB of deviation between the different off-axis positions and this is based on accepted science determining what the listener will hear from this speaker in a typical listening environment.
Flat frequency response, exceptional dynamics, and accurate mid-bass performance are qualities typically associated with high-end bookshelf speakers—often too large and expensive for discreet home theater use throughout a room.
Problem solved. True Ascend performance in a speaker with a footprint only slightly larger than a CD jewel case.
With surprisingly deep bass response and a natural roll-off optimized for seamless integration with a powered subwoofer, this unique speaker serves as a superior upgrade to the low-quality speakers commonly found in today’s budget “home theater in a box” systems.
Our proprietary tweeter, custom-built by SEAS of Norway, delivers clean, airy highs with superb extension while remaining smooth and non-fatiguing. The mids are clean, accurate, and dynamic, preserving the exceptional detail Ascend speakers are known for.
Don’t be fooled by its price—there’s nothing on the market quite like this speaker. It deserves serious consideration as a true audiophile solution for both music and movies.
An ideal center channel speaker: Lay the HTM-200SE2 on its side and position it above or below your television to unlock a new dimension in your home theater experience. As a center channel, it offers wide vertical dispersion and symmetrical horizontal dispersion, ensuring precise dialogue and effects from any listening position.
A superior front, left, right, or surround speaker: Stand the HTM-200SE2 upright, and it transforms into an accurate compact monitor, perfect for both home theater and two-channel audio. As a left/right/surround speaker, it delivers wide horizontal and vertical dispersion, creating an expansive soundstage. Ideal for discreet wall mounting!
